Summer is a great time to hit the beach with friends or to take a long ride on your mountain bike. But when you are in the midst of a heatwave and the temperatures soar above 100 degrees, you really don’t feel like hitting the beach or going on a bike ride. We don’t blame you.

It is unfortunate, but there are just days that you simply don’t want to do anything outside. It is also unfortunate that on these very hot days, often you wind up stuck in your air-conditioned home sleeping on the couch or doing something completely useless, like watching reruns of Alf or Mork and Mindy.

If you want to stay cool and be productive, there are ways to achieve this. Total Care Heating and Air, your AC repair service in Riverside, found these things you can do when it’s too hot to go outside.

See a Movie

There are a lot of great summer movies to see. And nothing beats sitting in a freezing cold movie theater eating popcorn and popping Junior Mints in your mouth. Because they are cool and refreshing. The only decision you have to make is what type of movie to go see. We would suggest a good horror movie to get the heart rate up.

Get Ahead at Work

Yes, we know nobody wants to be at work, but at least the office is nice and cool and we are sure this is something you can get caught up on. It is also a productive way to pass time and you will feel good about yourself when you do finally finish that overdue report.

Cool Food

There are tons of recipes that you are eager to try, now would be the ideal time. If you don’t want to turn your oven on and heat up the house, there are plenty of cold recipes from which to choose. For example, you can make a fruit smoothie or make some homemade ice cream.

Go to the Library

For those of you who don’t know this, a library is a big building that contains books and other readable materials. But libraries are also full of CDs, DVDs and other fun and interesting ways to stay busy. You could just find a book you have wanted to read forever and curl up in a chair.

Hit the Gym

If you are dying to exercise, then pack up your bag and head to the gym. While spending an hour on a stationary bike isn’t as fun or thrilling as the real deal, you are a heck of a lot more comfortable inside an air-conditioned gym than out in that heat.

Grocery Shopping

Grocery stores are air conditioned and they have frozen food aisles, which is a super cool place to be…literally.

Play a Board Game

Gather the family at the dining room table, serve some lemonade and play a board game, like Life or Monopoly. This is a great way to stay cool and connect with other family members.

If your AC goes out while playing Monopoly, just give Total Care Heating and Air a call.
